Why do I need a Reset?

“When should I reset my indoor camera?”  If you have the Black Hat System on your home, you were most likely set up with an indoor security camera. One of the most frequent technical support requests we receive is the “indoor security camera stopped working” request. No problem. 99% of the time this has to do with a change in your wifi network. Did you change the password? Get a new router? Get a new Internet Service? If you answered yes, we have already pinpointed why the camera stopped working. FYI, having the camera shut off for those changes is actually a security measure that we take. If someone out there has your old login info and you don’t change it, they could potentially breech your security… and that is a no-no.

JD, one of the best security techs in the nation, kindly walks us through a reset in this video. You might also follow along with the steps below.

  1. Connect the camera’s AC adapter and plug it into a non-switched outlet.
  2. Wait for camera’s LED to begin flashing white.
  3. From a computer, smartphone, or tablet connect to the Wi-Fi network named “ALARM (##:##:##).” The numbers in parentheses will be last 6 digits of camera’s MAC.
  4. From a web browser, type in “http://ADCsetup” and press the Enter key.
  5. This should direct you to the camera’s internal configuration website. Follow the on-screen instructions to connect the camera onto a wireless network.
  6. Wait for the camera’s LED to turn solid green. From a computer on the same network as the camera, log into the customer’s account at www.alarm.com/login.
  7. Type www.alarm.com/addcamera into the web browser’s address bar and follow the on-screen instructions to add the camera to the Alarm.com account.

If all else fails, or if you’d just like a friendly voice to walk you through it, then call our office at 480-830-2248 and we’ll have somebody get on the line with you till you figure it out.

Thanks!
