With social media making our lives ever more transparent, home security has become more about preventative technology than ever before. Technology, at its best, provides a forcefield of protection. At it’s worst, technology can devastate an innocent person. Smart technology is making home security more affordable and personal security more ubiquitous.
In order to promote our mission to secure families in the USA, we are proud to announce the Black Hat Security – SafeGirl Tech Scholarship
This annual scholarship will award one female student $1000 based on merit to go towards a college/ university STEM degree (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). Registration is open to all female students currently enrolled in a STEM degree. Registration is also open to High school seniors expecting to be enrolled in a STEM degree in the coming year (with proof of acceptance).
2018 Eligibility Requirements
Scholarship Award To The Winner: $1000
Application deadline: Must be received by July 16, 2018
This scholarship is available to female college students currently enrolled in a STEM degree program at an accredited American university or college. High School seniors who have been accepted to a STEM program at an accredited university or college may also apply.
A response to the 2018 essay question must be submitted by the Application Deadline in the correct digital format (Pdf, doc., docx.). If you are awarded the scholarship you may submit a photograph to be used in your winners profile.
How To Apply
Please write on the essay topic outlined in the 2018 Essay Question section (found below.) Submissions must be in PDF or DOC/ DOCX form and should be no longer than 1000 words.
Submissions must be emailed to scholarships@blackhatsecurity.com include the words “Scholarship Application” in the email title. Your application email must include all necessary contact information (full name, school, phone number, email address, home address).
One winner will be selected for the $1000 award on the quality of essay response.

The 2018 essay question is as follows:
Describe a technological advancement that would serve to protect women either online, in person, or both. What barriers do you see to the advancement? How do you see those barriers being overcome?
